Led by chef John Rivera, Askal is a restaurant built around Filipino food, memory and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like you have been invited in. The food is thoughtful, the space is cinematic and the whole thing carries a real sense of pride in where it comes from.

They brought us in because they wanted that side of the brand to come through louder. Askal is playful, progressive and full of life, but people were not always seeing that from the outside. The goal was to make more noise, bring in a younger and more energetic crowd, and help the venue take its place as one of Melbourne’s most exciting places to eat.

We built a world around that. Modern Filipino culture, texture, warmth, movement and a bit of late-night energy. The result has been more people through the door, fuller services and a stronger sense of who Askal is in the city. A restaurant that feels nostalgic and transportive when you are inside, but current, fun and impossible to miss from the outside.
